Educational programmes for young people (14+)

Seasonal programs from May

In this section you will find topics suitable for young people aged 14+. The activities are age-appropriate and aim at extending the knowledge gained in science classes. In addition to creative and logical tasks, they also include sports and team games aimed at developing skills such as analytical and critical thinking, group work, creating strategies and more.

MODULE_ECOSYSTEMS AND FOOD WEBS

Participants explore the web of relationships between living and non-living organisms. They test creating a network that connects different living and non-living organisms in a particular habitat. Participants will be able to create a network that connects different living and non-living organisms within a habitat; learn how interconnected living organisms are; and be able to observe the effects of a broken habitat network;

Format: in a group

Minimum number of participants: 8 / 10 – 15 participants (3 teams)

Duration: 3 hours

Age: 14+

Type of activities: indoor or outdoor team games

Qualities and skills to be developed: teamwork, sensitivity, analytical and critical thinking, fine motor skills.

MODULE_LIKE ANIMALS

The module focuses on the processes and factors that influence habitat change; it introduces young people to the particularities of the area – vegetation and animal life, the protected species that can be found, the ways to preserve organisms – hunting bans, disturbance, the designation of protected areas, what are the negative effects of anthropogenic activities in the area.

Qualities and skills to be developed: teamwork, sensitivity, analytical and critical thinking, fine motor skills.

MODULE_WE, BIRDS

This module presents the similarities and differences between birds and other groups of vertebrates (fish, amphibians, reptiles and mammals). In addition to physiological features, the topic of behavioural similarities and differences is addressed – nest building, mating behaviour, territory retention. Differences and similarities between bird species are also discussed

Minimum number of participants: 4

Duration: 3 hours

Age: 14+

Type of activities: sports team games / team creative design tasks

Qualities and skills to be developed: teamwork, sensitivity, analytical and critical thinking, imagination.

MODULE_THE WORLD THROUGH OUR EYES

The activities in this module provide an opportunity to become aware of the value of natural resources for animal habitats and interactively recreates adaptation to the environment and conservation of the territory.

Minimum number of participants: 6

Duration: 3 hours

Age: 14+

Type of activities: logical and sports team games indoors or outdoors / creative tasks

Qualities and skills to be developed: teamwork, sensitivity, analytical and critical thinking, imagination.

MODULE_BODIES OF CHICKS

The activity consists of making a model of a bird that inhabits a particular habitat. Young people learn that birds’ bodies are adapted to live in different habitats that provide their food source. They also learn that birds that look similar often live in the same habitat and that the living things in the habitat depend on each other for food and energy.

Minimum number of participants: 6

Duration: 2 hours

Age: 14+

Type of activities: team creative tasks – designing

Qualities and skills developed: teamwork, sensitivity, analytical and critical thinking, imagination.
